FAQs
Where are you located? What are your hours?
We are located at 904 South Hebron Avenue in Evansville, Indiana. Fox&Crow is a private, appointment-only studio generally operating between the hours of 11am – 7pm Tuesday – Saturday. Feel free to give us a call at (812) 437-7737 or follow us on Facebook to stay up-to-date on all the latest studio information.
What kind of identification do I need to get Tattooed/Pierced?
As an adult, you will need to make sure that you have two (2) forms of identification on you when you come in for your appointment. The first must be a valid, government-issued photo ID (driver’s license, passport, etc) & the second can be anything that has your name printed clearly on it. This is legally required by the health department, but we always will cover any sensitive numbers or information.
Can I get a Tattoo if I am a minor? What if my parent/guardian is okay with it?
Sorry, we do not tattoo anyone under the age of 18 under any circumstances.
Will you pierce me if I am under 18?
If you are under 18, you must have a parent or legal guardian come in with you for your piercing appointment. They will need to bring in two (2) forms of identification & sign paperwork on your behalf. You (the minor) will also be required to provide a form of identification that has your name, age, & birthday printed on it. Certain piercings can be done on minors under the 16 at the discretion of the piercer.
Can my step-parent/aunt or uncle/older sibling/etc sign for me?
No. It must be your parent or legal guardian only & unfortunately there are no exceptions. You may be asked for a birth certificate or guardianship papers.
What happens if I show up without proper ID?
IMPORTANT: If you do not bring proper identification, you will not be able to get tattooed or pierced-—which is super sad. The deposit would go directly to that artist to compensate the time that they had blocked off for you in their schedule & a new deposit would need to be paid upon rescheduling.
Please carefully read our deposit policies that automatically pull up & must be signed off & agreed to when making your appointment. We ethically choose to have these in place to protect our artists who would have otherwise been away from home making zero money for themselves and their family. We know life happens & we super appreciate your empathy and understanding in these not-fun-for-anyone situations.
Do you sell gift cards?
We offer TWO types of gift cards.
The first we have are our hard-plastic, reloadable gift cards that never, ever expire. These are available in-store only. Please call us at (812) 437-7737 to arrange a pick-up.
We also offer E-Gift Cards: virtual gift cards that basically work the same way (just more future-y, existing outside the confines of this physical plane). These can be purchased online with this [ LINK ] . Simply pull it up on your phone during checkout to be used as payment.
What are your Payment Options?
We accept cash, all major credit/debit cards, as well as Tap-to-Pay from your phone in the form of: Google Pay, Apple Pay, and Afterpay.
We unfortunately do NOT accept money transfer apps like Venmo & Paypal.
Although we love taking card payments, we do offer a cash discount to help offset card processing fees in the form of a small 2.6% discount that is pre-priced into all goods & services. Purchases made with a credit/debit card will remove this discount & be listed as a 2.6% charge on your receipt. This does NOT apply to cash & gift cards, so use those if you’d like to keep this discount during your transaction.
We realize it may be difficult to have the right amount of cash for prorated hourly-rate services like Tattooing. All of the above payment options are equally accepted & appreciated! Please feel free to use whatever is convenient for you.
Can I just walk in, or do I need an appointment?
Although everything we do is by appointment, sometimes same-day service may be available. To schedule an appointment or consultation, it is best to contact the artist of your choice directly. You can now book your piercing appointment online by clicking here.
Do I need to do anything special to prepare for my Tattoo/Piercing appointment?
We recommend that you have some food in your stomach before you come in for your appointment and dress comfortably in clothing that will easily allow us access to the area(s) on your body to be tattooed &/or pierced. Please familiarize yourself with our visiting policies before your appointment.
How do I take care of my new Tattoo/Piercing?
Here are our aftercare instructions for tattoos and piercings. Please follow any additional written &/or verbal instructions given to you by your artist.
Do you offer microblading/other cosmetic tattoo procedures?
At this time, we do not offer microblading or any other cosmetic tattoo procedures.
I need a touch up. What do I do now?
Generally, your artist will need to see how your tattoo healed up in person before a touch up appointment can be scheduled. It’s best to contact your artist directly to schedule a time to stop by the studio for them to take a look. If you live out of town, we will try our best to accommodate you online if you are able to send us a clear, well-lit photo of your tattoo.
Are there any medical conditions that mean I cannot get Tattooed/Pierced?
Hemophiliacs, or anyone prescribed blood thinners usually should not get a tattoo. Having hepatitis and other bloodborne diseases will not necessarily keep you from getting worked on, but it is important to let your artist know if you have these or any other major disease or illness. Sometimes diabetes and other medical conditions that can compromise the immune system may cause a slowed healing process and might require extra attention. If you have any concerns about the affects of your medical conditions or medications on your procedure, talk to your doctor before scheduling an appointment.
I have allergies and/or I’ve had reactions to pigments used in my previous tattoos. Can I still get tattooed/pierced?
Inform your artist of any known allergies or sensitivities and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
Do you offer apprenticeships?
At this time, we are not accepting any tattoo or piercing apprentices.
Is there anything you won’t Tattoo?
Each design and location is tattooed at the discretion of the individual artist. We consider our studio a safe space, so we will not allow any imagery or text that could be considered racist, homophobic, sexist, or otherwise hateful/offensive in any way. We retain the right to refuse any project for absolutely any reason.
Will losing weight/gaining weight affect the appearance of my Tattoo?
If you are actively planning on losing or gaining a significant weight, it is usually best to wait until you reach your goal before getting your new tattoo. Tattoos can be affected by stretch marks, and if you will or won’t be prone to getting stretch marks is apparently determined genetically. So placement is a consideration, especially if you are planning on getting pregnant. If you are planning on getting pregnant, you should be very cautious about the placement of any tattoo near the abdominal areal. Not only will the tattoo stretch during pregnancy, but there is no guarantee that the tattoo will go back to its original shape after birth.
When can I tan/swim again after getting a new tattoo?
Avoid all bodies of water for the first 3 wks, but clean running water from a sink or shower is just fine (please clean your fresh tattoo daily). You will want to avoid all tanning (in the bed or in the natural sun) for the first 4 weeks. After your tattoo is fully healed, we recommend protecting your tattoo with at least a 50SPF sunblock.
